Born in Rosario, Argentina, on 14 February 1988, Angel Fabian Di Maria Hernandez joined a local club in 1995 and graduated from the youth academy ten years later. In July 2007, the winger was transferred to Benfica with €6 million fee. In October 2009, he signed a new deal with Benfica to add three more years playing in that Portuguese club. Several moments after that, he became “Argentina’s next superstar”. The next year, in February 27, Di Maria had successfully created his first hat trick by defeating Leixoes SC with 4-0 score.
The summer of 2010 reported that Di Maria would be transferred from Benfica to Real Madrid with a five-year contract for €25 million, plus €11 million in incentives.
